Vintage Make-Overs

This was another extremely busy weekend.  I did manage to get a ton of work done and I am thrilled with how all of the pieces turned out.

Here are few that I am most proud of!!!

First up is a dresser that was in bad need of some love...

And after a little white loveliness...

And I am happy to say that she is going to a wonderful new home.

I also, along with Mr. Rubbish (couldn't do it without him), was able to complete three new vintage framed chalkboards. Here are my two favorites!

I especially love the next one...in all of it's ornate-ness...(is this a word?)

I have been in love with ornate framed chalkboards since I saw one in a Cottage Living magazine article three years ago...man I miss that magazine :(.

In my old house, which I have mentioned was realllllly formal, I had an old antique gold framed mirror...very similar to the one above, hanging over my dining room buffet.  In the new little rental, it would have looked ridiculous;  So instead of it sitting somewhere collecting dust, I just went for it and created the chalkboard of my dreams.  I have received so many compliments and requests that I decided there were probably other folks out there that may like them as well!  The chalkboard makes the fancy frame feel much more casual.  I just love them...

All of these items, with the exception of the dresser, are listed on my Etsy shop, Dignified Rubbish

How was your weekend?

xoxo,
Karen

  1. I have a chest of drawers that needs your touch! I'm trying to finish painting in the living room and dislike climbing the ladder to do the wall next to the ceiling! And, that chest is telling me that it wants an updated look, too. Yours looks fantastic!

  8. Hi Karen,

Don't you just love what white paint can do for everything? I've done the same thing with everything in my house. :0)

I've seen the fancy chalkboards before and I really love them..Your frames are fabulous. When you mentioned Cottage Living mag I had a flashback! There are several mags that went under since this dreaded recession...so so sad.. I really miss them.

I'm visiting for White Wednesday...even though a bit late! ♥

    Happy Day,
    Stephanie ♥
